PERNEM: Goa Asmitai Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Manguirish Vidyalaya, Shirgal–Aroba. The programme was jointly organised by the Goa Konkani Academy and the Directorate of Official Language, Goa.
Uday Deshprabhu attended the function as the chief guest. In-charge headmistress Gauri Verlekar welcomed him and introduced him to the gathering. In his address, Deshprabhu spoke about the importance of Goa’s identity and explained how the sacrifices of earlier generations helped preserve it. He also spoke on the Opinion Poll, creating awareness among students about Goa’s history.
An audio-visual presentation highlighting the significance of Goa Asmitai Day was screened. Students Arya and Shreya from Std VIII shared information on the occasion. Physical education teacher Vishram Faras offered brief guidance to students.
The programme also featured poetry recitations, traditional Goan attire, and cultural performances such as Fugdi and Ghumat Aarti by primary section students. The event was compered by teacher Supriya, while Sameer Tulaskar proposed the vote of thanks.
