Cuncolim Police has registered a case of attempted dacoity against three natives of Mumbai, and is on the look out for two of their accomplices, besides a local accused in connection with attempted dacoity.

Cuncolim Police station in-charge, PI Gurudas Kadam told the media that a case of attempted dacoity was registered against the accused following a complaint received from Lira Cardozo, a resident of Palmar-Grande, Chinchinim. He alleged that the three accused Prashant Suresh Shetty, Mahendra Jaganath Pawar and Suresh, a resident of Dobitalao, along with two others had come down to Goa in a Maharashtra registered car to commit the dacoity in the house of the complainant.

The Goan understands that one of the accused had stationed himself at the rear of the complainant’s house, while the others waited in their car parked around 200 meters from the house. The plan, however, failed to materialize as the accused at the rear of the house made good his escape when the complainant received a phone call. He left behind blades and a pair of gloves. Another pair of gloves and ropes were found meters away from the house, PI Kadam said.

Asked how the five natives from Mumbai had hatched the plan to commit the dacoity at the house, PI Kadam said an attempt was made recently to burgle the house. “We are on the look out of a local person, who is also wanted by the Colva police in another offence. We are trying to establish if the local had called the five persons from Mumbai to commit the offence at the house in Chinchinim”, PI Kadam said.

Meanwhile, a local court has remanded all the three accused to police custody till November 9. Further investigations are on.
