CANACONA
The Department of Urban Development has begun a survey to update property records, assess taxes and improve resource allocation in all 12 wards of the Canacona municipality.
The survey involves using drones to create GIS (Geographic Information System)-based 3D maps and integrating this data with property tax records.
The survey teams are also assessing the living conditions of ward members, their land and other resources.
Incidentally, it is learnt that the survey team is not getting the kind of support and cooperation it was supposed to receive from the citizens, potentially raising difficulties in the development works of municipal areas in the future.
Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) Chairperson Sara Shambha Naik Desai has appealed to residents in the municipality to cooperate with the surveyors and help them to complete the survey properly.
“During this survey, surveyors will also note down the types of houses in the municipal areas, and information will be collected on what is lacking and what needs to be done,” informed the CMC chairperson.
This survey, which was started in Nagarcem, has been completed in the ward and now, surveyors are conducting assessments in the Chaudi ward.
Chaudi Councillor Ramakant Naik Gaonkar has appealed to households to show receipts of water and electricity bills and house rent paid to the surveyors and to cooperate in the survey.
“This survey will be useful in determining the future course of development,” said Naik Gaonkar.
