The Young Goans Club (YGC) Bahrain celebrated ‘Viva Carnival’ with joy, music, and tradition at the Olive Hotel in Juffair on February 13.
The Chief Guest was Nivetha S, the Second Secretary for Political, Commercial, Press, Information and Culture, Embassy of India.
Embodying the theme of ‘Amche Goem, Amche Lok, Amcho Carnival – Viva Goa, Viva Carnival’, this year’s festival kicked off with an opening act by a band of five talented children from Sacred Heart School, the Jazers, with their unique set of skills as they played and sang the latest pop favourites.
They were then followed by the headliner, Marcia, Marc and the Prophets who had been flown in over the weekend to perform. The family-based group kept the crowd on their feet with their live music, consisting of classic, country, rock-n-roll, and dance hits. DJ Joel from SNSDJ took over during the breaks, with upbeat hits, the requests of all, TikTok viral hits, hip hop tracks to the classic hits of yesteryears.

A cultural parade, led by King Momo and his Queen, included scenes from Sao Joao, participants donning Kunbi, Dekhni and Shet outfits, a group of individuals doing the Mando and Corridinho, including other daily sights in the Goan community.
This group highlighted community pride, inclusivity, and the unique cultural heritage of Goa as they danced into the hearts of all those present, encouraging them to join in the festivities on the dance floor. The event was powered by BMMI and sponsored by Bahrain Financing Company, Ford and Creative Identity Advertising.
Appetisers were served regularly and a buffet dinner offered an extensive culinary experience featuring curated selection of international, seafood, and grilled dishes. The festivities wound up by the wee hours of the morning.
“The Goan carnival is not just a festival; it is a global celebration of our traditions, our people, and our warm hospitality through music, dance and living life to the fullest,” said YGC Bahrain President Noel Fernandes.
