After 55 years of serving the Greater Toronto area's Goan community, the Goan Overseas Association (GOA) Toronto has expanded its events and activities into the East End of Toronto, bringing culture, tradition, and fellowship closer to thousands of members who call Scarborough, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, and surrounding eastern communities home.
For over five decades, Goan community members residing in these areas faced the challenge of travelling considerable distances westward to participate in G.O.A. events and activities.
That changes now. Following the successful inaugural ‘G.O.A. in the East’ event in November 2025, the Association has hosted a series of monthly gatherings, with enthusiastic participation and an outpouring of support from community members across the region.

“These events represent more than just good food and music — it symbolises inclusivity and our commitment to serving all members of our community, regardless of where they live,” said G.O.A. President Selwyn Collaco.
“It's about bringing our rich Goan culture, traditions, and fellowship closer to home for so many of our members.”
Collaco said the momentum behind the initiative “has been nothing short of remarkable.”
“A call for volunteers to form a dedicated G.O.A. East committee was met with an overwhelming response, and the newly formed team has wasted no time, already organising regular events and setting its sights on a milestone celebration this spring,” said Collaco.
The G.O.A. has now invited its entire membership — east and west alike — to come together for ‘Easter in the East’, a major community event scheduled for Saturday, April 11, at the Peter and Paul Convention Centre, Scarborough.
The evening will feature live performances by two prominent bands, ‘Bigfoot’ and ‘Goa Amigos’, promising an unforgettable night of music, culture, and community spirit.
“The Association hopes that this event will draw participation from across its full membership, reinforcing the G.O.A.'s enduring values of unity, culture, and belonging — while embracing the needs of a growing and diverse community,” Collaco added.
