The 1st Beach Sprint National Rowing Championship Goa 2026, conducted under the discipline of Coastal Rowing, was formally flagged off at Dona Paula, recently.
The ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. Ajay Gaude, Director of the Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Goa, and Executive Director of the Sports Authority of Goa, along with officials of the Rowing Federation of India, the Rowing & Sculling Association of Goa, dignitaries from the Sports Authority of Goa and the Sports Authority of India, and participating athletes representing various states across India.
The championship features the Beach Sprint format ” a competitive coastal rowing event that combines a beach start, a short sea-course rowing segment, and a sprint finish on shore. The format demands speed, agility, and technical precision, and is gaining prominence within the Coastal Rowing framework at the national level.
The event has brought together rowers from across the country, marking a significant gathering of athletes in this fast-growing discipline of the sport.
The winners in the Women’s category will be presented with the Inaugural Padma Bhushan Manohar Parrikar Rolling Trophy, instituted in honour of Manohar Parrikar.
The championship is being organised by the Rowing & Sculling Association of Goa in coordination with national and state sports authorities, ensuring adherence to established competition standards and technical regulations.
