Nine teachers have been selected for the CM-Vashistha Guru Puraskar 2025-26 for their exemplary contribution to education. The awardees will be felicitated by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant at the 65th Teachers’ Day function on September 5, on the occasion of Teacher’s Day.
In the primary teacher category, Eshwar Raghurvir Parab of Government Primary School, Surla, Bicholim, and Arati A Kolambkar of Government Primary School, Chavdi, Canacona, have been selected.
The secondary teacher category has four awardees – Nitin Naik, Physical Education Teacher at Shivaji Raje High School, Kholpewada, Sal, Bicholim; Devendra B Sathe of Dattaram Mantravadi Memorial High School, Mapusa; Gourish Vernekar, Drawing Teacher at Shree Katyayani Banshwar High School, Kindlem, Ponsulem; and Prashant Tari, Special Educator at Gujarati Samaj Educational Trust for the Handicapped Special School, Aquem, Margao.
In the high school headmaster category, the awardees are Narendra Naik of Government High School, Hankhane, Pernem, and Mable Maria Perpetua Vaz da Costa of Mae Dos Pobres High School, Nuvem, Salcete.
Umesh Naik, principal of Shri Shantadurga Higher Secondary School, Pirna, Bardez, has been selected in the higher secondary principal category.
Notably, no award has been given in the Higher Secondary Teacher category, with the State Selection Committee finding none of the four shortlisted candidates suitable after their presentations.
