Goans prepare ‘Kuswar’ in California

THE GOAN NETWORK | CALIFORNIA

We here at CalifornianGoans are all for preserving Goan culture and traditions, especially those that are slowly fading away. One such tradition is the preparation of Christmas sweets known as ‘Consoada’ (‘Kuswar’) which traditionally involved friends and neighbours getting together for the preparation. This instilled a sense of camaraderie and community.

This year Sharon and Gracian hosted the CalifornianGoans Kuswar preparation at their residence on December 19, which was attended by Goans from the Bay area.

Everyone including the kids got together to make Dodol, Bolinhas, Bathica, Neureos, Kormolas and Rose Cookies. We had Carol singing and even Santa dropped in with treats and to get a taste of our Goan sweets. It was a fun evening that ended with dinner.

Thanks to our host and everyone who helped arrange the Kuswar, the snacks and the food and to those who lent their helping hand. Have a blessed holiday season, Mog Asun, Atam and Sodam.
