MAPUSA: The Tivim Panchayat has invited villagers to submit their suggestions or objections in writing to either the village panchayat or the Director of Industries regarding the establishment of a private university in the village.
The deadline for submissions is September 25.
As reported by The Goan, the government has approved the establishment of a private university on a 2 lakh square metres plot of land in Tivim, for which the Investment Promotion Board (IPB) has given an in-principle approval.
The proposal, submitted by MIT World Peace University, Pune, received the nod for setting up its university in the State.
The university will be located on Survey No 88/1, a 2 lakh square meter property owned by the Tivim Comunidade.
As a State private institution, it will offer a range of courses across fields such as Engineering, Marine Engineering, Medical Sciences, Management Studies, Arts, Journalism and Public Policy.
