A male body with a severed ear was found in a field on the Morod side of Bodgini-Mapusa on Saturday morning.
The body was noticed in the field away from the road at about 8 am and a Mapusa police team led by Police Inspector Naveen Desai went to the site to conduct a panchanama.
The deceased had some injuries on his face and one of his ears was missing. Police sent the body to the Goa Medical College hospital at Bambolim for a post-mortem examination.
Mapusa police have registered the case as an unnatural death and are conducting further investigation.
