PANAJI: South Goa will mark International Jazz Day with a special concert on May 3, 2026, at Silva Heritage Lawns in Benaulim. The global event, established by UNESCO in 2011 and observed annually on April 30, celebrates jazz as a unifying cultural force promoting dialogue and cooperation. Curated by Vinesh Iyer, the South Goa edition will feature the Braz Gonsalves Legacy Collective, led by the veteran saxophonist often regarded as a pioneer of Indian jazz. The ensemble includes Yvonne Gonsalves (vocals), Ian De Noronha (keys), Risa Rodrigues (bass), and Jeshurun D’Cruz (drums), performing a mix of jazz, funk and swing. The concert, titled “Live Under the Mango Tree”, will begin at 8 pm at the 350-year-old Silva Heritage mansion, a restored cultural venue reflecting Goa’s Portuguese and Hindu influences. Organisers have invited public support to promote live music.
