Cujira : Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College (Autonomous) celebrated Librarians’ Day on August 12 to mark the birth anniversary of Dr S. R. Ranganathan, regarded as the Father of Library Science in India. The programme began with Principal Prof. (Dr) Manoj S. Kamat offering floral tribute to Ranganathan’s portrait.
In his address, he spoke on Ranganathan’s contribution to the field, including the Colon Classification system and the Five Laws of Library Science, which continue to guide the discipline. He also urged students to see Library and Information Science as a promising career. On the occasion, the college library organised a special exhibition of books for competitive exams, which received enthusiastic response from both students and teachers.
