In an interesting development, two unknown persons entered the campus of the National Institute of Technology, Cuncolim and decamped from the boys hostel nine laptops, besides other items worth Rs 6.53 lakh. The incident occurred on January 12 at 11 am when the unknown accused persons effected entry into the NIT campus from the main gate with Swift Dzire vehicle. As per the complaint lodged by the Chief Warden, NIT Erram Shetty Mallikarjun, the duo then entered the boys hostel and committed theft of nine laptops of different models worth Rs 6,48,630. The accused have also lifted a meg earphone worth Rs 1,099 and a trolley skybag valued around Rs 4,000 from different rooms of boys hostels and fled with the stolen property. The police has pegged the total value of the stolen items to Rs 6.53 lakh. Cuncolim Police has registered a FIR under section 305(a) r/w 3(5) BNS 2023.
