Gomantak Maratha Samaj Saunstha has announced an award, ‘Samajbhushan Puraskar’ in the name of first chief minister of Goa, late Bhausaheb Bandodkar. The award given for the first time this year in the memory of the late chief minister will be conferred on Dr Ramkrishna Morajkar for his selfless contribution to the social and cooperation sector.
The award will be given on the 48th death anniversary of Bhausaheb Bandodkar on August 12 between 9 am to 1 pm, stated Anand Waghurmekar, chairman of the Saunstha. The programme will be presided by Goan educationist Subhash Velingkar, and Parag Porob, assistant professor at the History department of Goa University will be the chief guest. Porob will also address the gathering. Prof Gajanan Mandrekar, and Giriraj Vengurlekar, the grandson of late chief minister will grace the function as guest of honour and special guest, respectively. The event will be followed by one act play contest for youth. Books on Bandodkar, penned by Manguesh Kundaikar and Parag Porob will also be released on the occasion. The press conference was attended by Shrikrishna Asgaonkar, Sunil Pilgaonkar and Laxmikant Naik.
