PANAJI: The Porvorim Rising Trust will organise a Women’s Sports Day on May 3 across the Porvorim constituency to promote grassroots participation and women’s empowerment. The initiative will be held in the panchayats of Penha de França, Salvador do Mundo and Socorro, with support from Tourism and IT Minister Rohan Khaunte. Panch member Rina Fernandes said the event aims to encourage women and young girls to take up sports by bringing activities to the community level. The programme will feature 10 events, including races, langdi, shot put, musical chairs, relay and tug of war. Participants will compete in four age categories, and winners will receive prizes, along with bumper rewards through a lucky draw.
