The 13th edition of the Orchid Awards was held in Panaji wherein 10 Goan women achievers were awarded for inspiring change and leadership. Founded and conceptualised by Asha Arondekar, the Orchid Awards were presented this year by ‘Global to Local’ in association with Karur Vysya Bank and powered by Incredible Goa at the Panaji Convention Centre. The women achievers were Irene Cardozo (Art & Culture), Sr. Monica Coelho (Education), Milena Gomes (Social Work), Amaira Dhumatker (Sports), Siddhi Porob (Women Empowerment), Sarika Shirodkar (Journalism), Laxmi Kunkolienkar (Business), Anaisha Parab (Girl Child Prodigy), Resha Vernekar (Woman Achiever with Disability), Dr Ratan Srikrishna Naik (Lifetime Achievement). The youngest award winner was seven years old and the oldest winner was at 93. Sulakshana Sawant, president of Padmini Foundation. Chayaa Nanjappa, country president of India, ABWCI and Rohit Monserrate, Mayor of the Corporation of the City of Panaji attended the event. A show on the theme of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ was presented by a group of girls aged 6-12. The programme was hosted by Rashmi Patil, Niharika and Sachi Morajkar. Vaishali Mane proposed a vote of thanks.
