Panaji: Dr RG Wiseman Pinto, Professor of Pathology and former Dean of Goa University, has been elected President of the South Asian Academy of Cytopathology and Histopathology (SACH) during its 50th Anniversary International Conference held at the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 24 October 2025. SACH includes pathologists from countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, and Myanmar. Dr Pinto, who earlier served as SACH President in 2016–17, becomes the first Indian to hold the position twice. The Academy focuses on advancing knowledge in diagnostic histopathology, cytopathology, molecular and genetic analysis, and integrated diagnostic services. Dr Pinto is a regular faculty member at international conferences and a visiting professor at leading Indian medical institutions.
