World’s 1st Chitpavani language summit on Jan 18

PANAJI: Chitpavani Bhasha Samvardhan Sangh, along with Chitpavan Brahman Sangh Gomantak, will organise the world’s first Chitpavani Bhasha Sammelan at Bicholim on January 18. The day-long event will be held at Yogeshwari Mandir in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant. Chairman of TJSB Cooperative Bank, Thane, Sharad Narhar Gangal, and Prof Dr Pradip Apte of the Bhandarkar Oriental Institute, Pune, will also attend. The programme will run from 9 am to 6 pm, with the inaugural function at 10 am and the keynote address by Prof Dr Apte at 11.30 am.

The event will feature a Chitpavani Kavi Sammelan with poets Vandana Joshi, Ramakrishna Soman, Dineshwar Jog, Subhash Joshi and Rohini Kulkarni. Cultural programmes will include acting presentations, a dance performance by Rajavi Marathe and a storytelling session at 3 pm. Artists from Karnataka will also participate. A Chitpavani sangeet mehfil at 4.30 pm will feature vocal performances by Manoj Ganpule, Harsha Ganpule, Mahesh Vaze and Dattaprasad Jog. The summit will conclude thereafter.
