In yet another raid on the ongoing IPL cricket matches gambling operation, Calangute Police apprehended four persons from Andhra Pradesh on charges of running the cricket betting racket from a hotel in Candolim.
Police have seized cash of Rs 15,785, 32 mobile phones and two laptops, all amounting to Rs 5 lakh in the raid conducted late Monday night.
Incidentally, this is the fourth IPL betting case registered at Calangute police station within a month.
The accused have been identified as Adduri Naga Raju (42), Irrinki Venkata Ganesh (20), Pithani Kishore Kumar (41) and Rudra Suryanarayan Raju (39), all from Andhra Pradesh.
Acting on specific information, a Calangute police team conducted a raid in a room at a hotel in Candolim, where the four persons were found betting on an IPL match.
“The accused were involved in IPL betting during the match played between Kolkata Night Riders and Royal Challengers Bengalaru,” a senior police official informed.
The police team that conducted the raid was led by PI Nolasco Raposo along with PSI Sushant Sangodkar, Head Constable Vinod Naik and Police Constable Vinay Shrivastav.
