The ordeal undergone by a resident of Arlem-Raia after he was illegally transported into Myanmar instead of being provided with the promised job in Thailand has finally ended.
The victim, Ashish Wagh, has finally returned home after two months in Myanmar thanks to the intervention of the Indian Embassy after constant follow-up by Maina-Curtorim Police Station in-charge PI Arun Desai.
In this case, the Maina-Curtorim Police had registered an offence on June 30, 2024 under sections 370, 370(1), 420 IPC and Sec 10 of the Emigration Act 1983 upon the complaint of Punam Asish Wagh, a resident of Arlem-Raia.
In her complaint, she stated that the accused person Hazel Fernandes, a resident of Old Market, after introducing as an overseas recruiting agent allegedly induced her husband Asish Wagh with the promise of providing a Data Entry Operator job in an international company in Thailand.
Police said the accused person allegedly illegally transported the victim to the Myanmar border and further to some unidentified place and thereafter forced him to work in a fake bitcoin company along with other Indians and other people.
After registration of the offence, the Maina-Curtorim Police under the supervisor of SP, South Sunita Sawant and SDPO, Margao Santosh Dessai, contacted the Indian embassy, who in turn contacted the Indian Embassy in Myanmar and Thailand.
With continuous follow-up and with the support of the Indian embassy in Thailand, the victim has returned to his residence. PI Arun Desai has made an appeal to the public not to fall prey to fake employment offers.
