BJP State President Sadanand Tanawade in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday officially declared its panel of 10 candidates who will contest elections to the Sankhali Municipal Council (SMC).
BJP-backed candidate Riyaz Khan has already been elected unopposed from Ward 8.
The BJP-backed candidates announced are Yeshwant Madkar (Ward 1), Nikita Naik (Ward 2), Siddhi Porob (Ward 3), Rashmi Desai (Ward 4), Vinanti Parsekar (Ward 6), Bramhanand Desai (Ward 7), Anand Kanekar (Ward 9), Dayanand Boryekar (Ward 10), Deepa Jalmi (Ward 11) and Anjana Kamat (Ward 12).
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said Congress party did not have required number of able candidates, as a result of which 2-3 candidates have been fielded from the same family in the different wards. He expressed confidence that the BJP panel would emerge victorious.
