Locals demand ban on visits to waterfall after 4 deaths in 3 yrs

The body of a 30-year-old man hailing from Madhya Pradesh and employed in a starred hotel along the Calangute-Candolim coast was retrieved from the waterfall at Sanvordem-Sattari.
According to reports, a group of hotel employees had gone for a swim at the waterfall, when Pankaj Rajput, went missing in the water on Wednesday evening.
Despite a search till late Wednesday night, Rajput could not be located.
Fire and emergency officials began search operations on Thursday morning, and the body was located at about 3 pm.
A Valpoi police team under the guidance of Police Inspector Viddesh Shirodkar conducted a panchnama and sent the body to Goa Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem.
Meanwhile, there have been growing calls among locals for a ban on visits to the waterfall after claiming that four persons have lost their lives at the waterfall in the last three years.
Locals from Kumthol and Karanjol have insisted that the collector or the forest department should prohibit locals from visiting the waterfall, else further lives could be lost in future.
