PANAJI: CM Pramod Sawant has proposed issuing short-term Fire Safety NOCs, valid for up to six months, particularly for tourism-related businesses.
Addressing a press briefing today, Sawant said, “Traditionally, Fire NOCs are issued for five years, but for businesses in the tourism sector, like beach shacks, temporary approvals will help them operate smoothly while ensuring safety compliance."
Earlier today, the Chief Minister chaired a review meeting to streamline the issuance process and directed officials to finalize a clear Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) within a short timeframe. “All inspections and reports must be conducted and submitted via the online system to maintain safety standards,” he added.
The meeting also included a general assessment of departmental resources, operational readiness, and response mechanisms, with instructions to strengthen efficiency, coordination, and public service delivery.
