Goa Police have intensified their efforts to create awareness about safety and cyber crimes by reaching out to locals and tourists in public places including beaches.
The Pink Force has been tasked with promoting key helplines such as the Women’s Helpline (1091), Women’s WhatsApp Helpline (7875756177), Senior Citizen Helpline (1090), Coastal Helpline (1093) and Cybercrime Helpline (1930) in high-tourist influx areas along the coastal belt.
“The basic idea is to alert the citizens regarding the modus operandi carried out by criminals in targeting innocent citizens, senior citizens, particularly women and youth on the importance of personnel safety, online security/ Cyber fraud, Traffic Rule & Regulation and dangers of Drugs abuse. Awareness is the key to preventing crimes and promoting a safe and healthy community through this initiative,” reads the statement issued by the department late Saturday evening.
The Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112), operational since October 2019, has been handling distress calls at the State Police Control Room.
At present, 11 Pink Force vehicles are posted across the state, primarily in coastal areas of North and South Goa in collaboration with local police stations and traffic cells. These teams are actively engaging with public and tourists, providing assistance and raising awareness about safety and security measures.
“This initiative aims to empower individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to protect themselves and their loved ones,” the statement added.
