In a major decision, the cabinet approved the appointment of 170 doctors, nurses and technical staff in contractual positions for the Directorate of Health Services. Additionally, the creation of 10 posts for the Goa Dental College, 13 posts in the prosecution department and four contractual posts in the IT Start-up Promotion cell were also approved in the Wednesday meeting.
A one-year extension to the Pension Cell and the setting up of the Goa Vehicle Authentication (GoVA) System under a revenue sharing model which will be integrated with the State's vehicle registration system (Goa Vahan) and the Goa Police department was yet another cabinet decision taken on Wednesday, Sawant said.
Sawant also said that the cabinet approved the formation of a separate National Social Service (NSS) cell in Goa. The decision also involves recruitment of staff for the NSS cell, he added.
Meanwhile, the cabinet also approved the allotment of a 800 square metres parcel of land in Tuem to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to set up a Non-Communicable Disease Screening (NCDS) centre, Sawant said.
