Govt begins digitising land records to curb manipulation

Asserting that the government is committed to introduce the right technology to protect land records, Archives and Archaeology Minister Subhash Phal Dessai said the government has set in motion the process to digitalise the land records to prevent land frauds in the future.

Saying that it will take around 3-4 years to complete the work of digitalisation of land records, Phal Dessai said around 10 per cent of the work on the ambitious project has been completed till date.

“To put a stop to the land fraud, we have embarked on a process to digitalise the land records. It will take 3-4 years to complete the process, but we have so far achieved  10 per cent of the work till date,” he said, exuding confidence that land documents of the people of Goa will never be lost nor tampered with in the future.

He added: “There were many land scams in the recent past. People used to tamper with the books removing pages and changing names. But, now we have brought the records under CCTV surveillance.” People will henceforth have easy accessibility to the records. People will get the land records without touching the documents,” he added.
