MARGAO
Citizens have cried foul over the failure of the authorities to raze down the wall hanging dangerously on the main Erasmo Carvalho road in Margao.

After the matter was brought to the notice of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat on Tuesday, Deputy Collector, Ganesh Barve along with Margao Municipal officials rushed to the site for an inspection.

Barve told The Goan that since wall is indeed standing in a dangerous condition, the authorities will deploy machinery to raze down the wall. “We will start the operation on Wednesday. The wall will be razed down and ensure safety and security for the citizens,” he added.

The structure on the Erasmo Carvalho road had collapsed last week before the debris was cleared by Margao Municipal workers. However, the wall of the collapsed structure was left untouched for reasons best known to officials of the disaster management authority.
