Stop protecting illegal houses for votes

Minister Mauvin Godinho’s statement asking whether 50,000 illegal houses should be demolished is illogical. All political parties build their vote banks through these illegal houses, and that is why such questions are raised.

Firstly, no Goan would do any illegal construction. People coming from other states cannot afford to buy land or flats here, and politicians support these migrants for their own benefit. No one has the right to encroach on anyone’s property. The government should investigate why the minister has made such a statement. They speak as if nothing wrong has happened.

The Goa Government seems to be planning to regularise illegal encroachments on government and communidade lands. Certain ministershave held senior positions for decades. They manage to stay in power only because of the illegal vote banks they misuse. In my view, these MLAs need these vote banks for power far more than the vote banks need them.
