The drive to seal the remaining 13 tourism establishments in Agonda has taken a break on Saturday and Sunday, with authorities set to resume the sealing operations on Monday.

A total of 54 of the 67 tourism establishments were sealed on Thursday and Friday on orders of the high court.

The operations have been halted on Saturday and Sunday on account of holidays for the authorities.

Meanwhile, Canconkars have planned a silent march at Chaudi-Canacona on Monday in solidarity with the people of Agonda affected by the court order.

“Canconkars are well aware of the ongoing situation in Agonda. In response to the actions that have caused immense hardship to the people of Agonda, we are organising a peaceful protest on Monday to stand in solidarity with those affected,” stated a post on social media.

“Let it be clear that this protest is not against the government or its agencies. Our fight is against those whose actions have led to the sealing of shacks and other establishments, causing suffering to the local community.”

The social media post also appeals to Canaconkars to come together in large numbers at the Canacona KTC Bus Stand at 10 am, to submit a memorandum to the Deputy Collector of Canacona.

“This is our moment to show unity, strength, and determination. Let us stand firm and make it known that we will not be silenced,” the appeal added.
