Actor director Anupam Kher, who was in Goa to launch the Goa Super 100 scholarship project, recalled his school days in Shimla, and expressed gratitude towards his teachers for making him who he is today. “Schools are places where our memories are the strongest. As we grow up our memories begin to fade. In Himachal Pradesh where I grew up and schooled, I was always a bad student who never scored more than 38 % marks. The schools I went to had no rooms, and when it rained we had a holiday. One of my schools had no black board and the door was our blackboard. Our teachers were strict and ruled us with sticks. My teachers were characters, and they do play a role in my becoming an actor,” said Kher in a humorous way.

Kher recalled, “But life was beautiful in small town Shimla, and we had time to dream. There was no disparity between rich and poor. My mom used to drop me to school and say, ‘today is your best day’. Her words kept me inspired the whole day. Today we need platforms to inspire us, and PACT is one such platform that will act as the wind beneath the wings of aspiring students, making them fly high. Students must avail this opportunity and learn from various universities. Go anywhere to study but come back to India. Give back to her, as India is the best country,” advised Kher to students.
