Goa hosts global energy dialogue as IEW2026 draws 75,000+ delegates from 120 countries: Goa CM

PANAJI: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that over 75,000 professionals and delegates from more than 120 countries are attending India Energy Week (IEW) 2026 at ONGC in South Goa, positioning it as one of the world’s most significant platforms shaping the future of global energy security.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of IEW 2026 today, Sawant said Goa was proud to host a global dialogue that closely aligns with the state’s Green and Blue Economy vision.

“India Energy Week has evolved into much more than a conference. It is where global energy commitments converge, where ideas move to action and ambitions translate into implementation,” Sawant said. “Goa is honoured to host this important dialogue and to serve as the permanent home of India Energy Week. This is not only a moment of pride, but also a responsibility.”

The event was also addressed virtually by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sawant said the Prime Minister’s message set the tone for the global deliberations and reflected India’s growing leadership in the energy sector.

“Under the Prime Minister’s visionary leadership, India has emerged as a global voice of solutions, anchored in capability, confidence, and commitment,” Sawant said, adding that India would lead the energy transition with responsibility, innovation, and inclusive growth.

The Chief Minister said the goal of Viksit Bharat depends on reliable, affordable, and resilient energy systems, a vision that Goa fully shares. “Goa is committed to building a Viksit Goa through sustainable development and future-ready energy infrastructure. We have articulated a clean energy roadmap with the vision of transitioning to 100 percent renewable energy by 2050,” he said.

Sawant also highlighted the wider impact of IEW 2026 on the state, noting that the event would boost tourism, services, local entrepreneurship, and employment. “The discussions will not remain confined to conference halls. They will generate real opportunities beyond them, benefiting local communities and strengthening Goa’s position as a global destination for green and blue economy dialogue,” he said.

Emphasising Goa’s coastal responsibility, Sawant said clean energy growth must go hand in hand with the responsible use of ocean resources. “Our future depends on balancing economic progress with environmental protection and resilience,” he added.

Calling India Energy Week 2026 “a moment for partnership,” the Chief Minister urged global stakeholders to collaborate across borders. “The world needs solutions that are practical, scalable, and inclusive. Let us use this platform to share best practices, mobilise investment and accelerate innovation so that the energy transition becomes a global success story,” he said.
