Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the function said that Mankurado from Goa is tastier than Alphonso which is said to be the most popular variety in India.
"Alphonso is said to be famous. Mankurado mango is tastier than the Alphonso mango. This I can tell with pride. We have taken GI tagging for this (Mankurado)", said CM.
CM said that GI tagging has already been done for Khola Mirchi, Goa Feni, Mankurado Mango and agriculture department and ICAR are working to give GI indication for the Harmal Mirchi and Chandor Bringals.
CM said that the central government initiative of E-market is giving a big platform for farmers and Goa being a tourism state agri-tourism is a new concept started in Goa on public-private partnership.
"In the future this has big potential. Many people are getting attracted towards agro-tourism", said CM.
