HM Amit Shah to launch ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme, inaugurate multiple projects during Goa visit on Oct 4

PANAJI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch the Goa Government’s ambitious ‘Mhaje Ghar’ scheme on October 4. Under the scheme, the State government intends to issue Class I ownership rights to the beneficiaries having their houses located on the government and Communidade land.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, announcing the visit at a press briefing today, said, “This is a landmark step that fulfils the long-pending dream of thousands of Goans to have secure ownership of their homes. I appeal to all beneficiaries to attend the program and collect their forms.”

Apart from the Mhaje Ghar launch, Shah, who will be on day-long visit to the State, will lay foundation stones and inaugurate several projects across multiple sectors.

Shah will lay foundation stone for seven NBCC projects, including Junta House redevelopment, Government Garage, Prashasan Stambh, and a new Circuit House, apart from four tourism projects such as Unity Mall, Town Square, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Fort, and the upgradation of Harvalem Waterfall.

Shah will further launch the new Goa Dental College building, the Smart City stadium at DB Ground in Panaji, and E-Witness Rooms in North and South Goa, making Goa the second state in the country to implement the system. “The Home Minister will also flag off four Forensic Science vans and release a book to mark five years of the Swayampurna Goa initiative,” Sawant said.

The Chief Minister informed that MoUs will also be signed during the programme to strengthen skill development and governance reforms. “We have tied up with Medhavi Skills University to provide free online skill education to our Human Resource Development Corporation staff, and another MoU will be signed with the Capacity Building Commission under Mission Karmayogi Bharat. Goa is the first state to have 100 percent of its employees onboarded under this mission,” he said.

The event will also feature the distribution of appointment letters under the Staff Selection Commission and the felicitation of individuals and institutions for their contributions. “Swayampurna Mitras, local bodies, nationalized banks, and government departments will be recognized for their work, and Sanads and Certificates will be handed over to two beneficiaries from each of Goa’s 12 talukas,” Sawant said
