MARGAO: A KTC bus on the Cavelossim-Margao route started service on Saturday, fulfilling a long-pending demand from local residents. The bus was sanctioned by KTC Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar after requests from the sarpanchas of Cavelossim, Carmona, Varca and Orlim. It will leave Cavelossim daily at 7.15 am and return from Margao at 7 pm.
The bus was blessed and inaugurated at Cavelossim on Saturday in the presence of Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz, Carmona Sarpanch Sandra Fernandes, Varca Sarpanch Flavia Barretto and local residents. Dixon said the government has met the long-pending demand for a KTC bus service on this route, and he thanked Navelim MLA and KTC Chairman Ulhas Tuemkar for making it possible. The Cavelossim Sarpanch said he had recently met RTO officials about the irregular bus services on the route, which caused hardship to commuters, especially on Sundays.
