The long pending project of road hot-mixing near the Cortalim ferry point was finally inaugurated on Saturday morning at the hands of a senior citizen couple (former panch members) in the presence of Cortalim MLA Anton Vas after the blessings by Fr Rex.
Speaking to media, Cortalim MLA Anton Vas said that the project was taken up at the cost of Rs 1.4 crore.
"This is an important project especially because this has been a long pending demand. The roads were riddled with potholes and caused a lot of hardships to the residents and also the people using the ferry services. The project is taken up at the cost of Rs 1.42 crore and will hot-mix the road from Tari to Sotrant and continue from Ferry Point to Thana and Vollant internal roads. After that the roads near Cortalim panchayat 2nd Aravale will be taken up and finally the road from Chavdi to the national highway junction will be taken to complete this project," said Vas.
"The people in Cortalim face issues of irregular water supply and also of power cuts and power fluctuations. I have begun with the hot-mixing of many of the internal roads and I have also taken an inspection to address the issues of flooding and water-logging. Many are suffering from water supply issues and I will take necessary steps to resolve it at the earliest," said Vas.
