Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco have on Wednesday felicitated the Maina Curtorim police and women and child right’s activist Auda Viegas following the conviction of the man, who was charged for raping his daughter with disabilities.
The POCSO Court at Panjim had on Tuesday sentenced the accused to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for raping his daughter multiple ties.
Besides felicitating Auda Viegas, the MLA also honoured Maina Curtorim PI Arun Desai for working to build a strong case, which has finally ended up in a conviction.
Reginaldo said this is a classic case wherein the politician, police and NGOs had come together to give justice to a girl, who was raped by her own father.
“The police as well as Auda really worked on the case to give justice to the victim. I compliment them for their hard work”, he said.
Both PI Arun Desai and Auda Viegas said MLA Reginaldo showed interest in bringing the perpetrator to book even though the incident did not take place in his jurisdiction.
“It was the MLA who had got the information about the incident. Accordingly, we all worked to give justice to the victim”, she said.
