Stray dogs on the world famous Colva beach have come back to haunt tourists and locals alike again.

A Russian lady tourist Zena was attacked by a stray dog on the Colva beach on Wednesday during her visit to the beach. She was later taken to the hospital for treatment of the injuries on her finger and buttock.

The victim has made a fervent plea to the government to set up dog shelters to house the strays.

Saying she is against killing of dogs, Zena said that dog shelters can offer a solution to the menace of stray dogs on the beach belt.

Putting up at Majorda, Zena said she regularly visits the Colva beach since she has fallen in love with the beach. “During my visit, one of the dogs attacked me and I have sustained injuries on my finger and buttock. Doctors at the hospital have given me an injection and they have told me to come again for the injection,” she said.

Zena, pointed out that the government should address the stray dogs with shelters.
