A 40-year-old motorcyclist from Zuarinagar, who was undergoing treatment at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, after sustaining head injuries in a self-accident at Dabolim, has passed away.

The deceased, identified as Nannemiya Suranagi, had met with an accident on July 4, 2025. As per police reports, Suranagi was riding his motorcycle when he lost control of the vehicle, skidded, and fell on the road, resulting in severe head injuries. He was immediately shifted to GMC Bambolim for medical attention.

Based on the incident, Vasco Police had registered a motor vehicle accident case on July 5, 2025.

However, a wireless message was later received from the Casualty Department of GMC, informing Vasco police that Suranagi had succumbed to his injuries.

Following the intimation, the deceased’s body was referred for post-mortem examination. The autopsy was conducted by the police surgeon at GMC, who certified the cause of death as “bilateral consolidation of lungs in a person undergoing treatment for craniocerebral damage caused by blunt force impact by surface and/or object.”

After completion of the necessary procedures, the deceased’s body was handed over to his family for the final rites.

Vasco police have now registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023.

The enquiry into the incident is being conducted by PSI Archana Gaonkar of Vasco Police Station under the supervision of PI Vaibhav Naik and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
