PANAJI: The Serendipity Arts Festival 2024 began with a vibrant Day 1 in Panaji on December 15, featuring a dynamic mix of performances, workshops, and discussions that set the tone for its nine-day celebration of art and culture.

At the Old GMC Complex, O Gaanewali, directed by Meghana AT and led by Avanti Patel, paid tribute to the legacy of Tawaifs, whose artistry shaped thumri, dadra, and ghazal. The emotionally resonant performance captivated audiences with its storytelling and music.

At the ESG Auditorium, artists Gulammohammed Sheikh and Atul Dodiya discussed the life and work of Bhupen Khakhar, delving into the personal and political themes of his art.

The workshop The Body and Food at The Food Lab encouraged participants to rediscover food through movement and mindfulness. “This year, we’re expanding culinary arts beyond enclosed spaces with experiences like seaweed harvesting, market walks, and a dosa picnic,” said Anusha Murthy of Edible Issues.

The day ended with One World, a powerful concert at The Arena, featuring Lou Majaw, Indus Creed members, Warren Mendonsa, and Pratika Gopinath of Easy Wanderlings, celebrating unity and harmony through electrifying performances.

With support from cultural partners like Institut Français and the British Council, Serendipity Arts Festival promises a transformative experience in its ninth edition.
