PORVORIM

Porvorim police arrested notorious history-sheeter Tarzan Parsekar and three of his accomplices who had been on the run for over a year after their bail was rejected in a money extortion case.

The accused -- Tarzan Parsekar and Sanish Ghatwal, both from Saligao, Sagar Patil and Prashant Dasaraju from Nagoa -- were wanted in connection with a case registered under Sections 308(5), 351, and 352 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of Porvorim and Pernem police raided a hideout in Nanerwado, Pernem, where the four were believed to be hiding. The operation was led by Pernem PI Sachin Lokre and included PSI Vivek Halarnkar, PSI Prathmesh Parsekar, PSI Sahil Naik and constables Krishna Velip, Mahadev Kerkar, Sagar Khorjuvekar, Hemant Sawant, Sachin Gawas, and Chaitan Sawant.

According to police, the accused attempted to flee in different directions upon spotting the team. However, officers managed to apprehend them using minimal force. During the arrest, the accused reportedly resisted and attempted to use physical force against the police, leading to minor scuffles.

The arrest comes in response to a complaint filed by Avinash Shinde of Reis Magos, who alleged that the accused had extorted money from him.

Police sources said the accused are involved in multiple serious offences registered across various police stations in Goa. They have been handed over to Porvorim Police and will be produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class on Monday for remand.
