A 27-year-old Nepali man drowned in the Agonda sea on Monday.
According to police sources, Santosh Bista, who was employed at a restaurant at Agonda beach, had gone for a swim in the afternoon.
He was dragged into the sea due to strong currents and, after some time, some onlookers and colleagues ran to his rescue.
With the help of lifesavers, Bista was pulled ashore. He was rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Chaudi-Canacona, where a doctor on duty declared him dead on arrival.
On receiving news of the incident, Canacona police later sent the body to the South Goa District Hospital at Margao for further medico-legal formalities.
