No construction permit needed for shacks & temporary structures on beaches; Govt to introduce Ordinance

In a significant development, the State Cabinet has approved to promulgate an Ordinance, wherein the shacks and temporary structures, operational along the beaches, will not require to obtain construction license from the department of Town and Country planning.

CM Pramod Sawant said that the cabinet has approved the 'Goa Erection of Shacks/Temporary Structures on All Public Beaches Regulation and Control Ordinance 2024'.

He said that this ordinance aims to regularize all beach shacks and temporary structures sanctioned under the Tourism Shack Policy.

He said the ordinance will be applicable to the existing structures as well as future structure.

Shacks and temporary structures under this ordinance will not require a construction license but must obtain a trade license to run their business.

Additionally, the Cabinet has given the nod to amend the Minor Mineral Concession Rules, a step towards streamlining and expediting the process of granting permissions. This decision is poised to facilitate smoother operations within the sector.

In a boost to healthcare professionals, the Cabinet has approved a 10% hike in the allowance for doctors working on a regular basis at the Super Speciality Block of GMC.

Furthermore, the Cabinet has extended the 'Scheme for Providing Government Jobs to Children of Freedom Fighters' until February 28, 2025. This extension comes as a relief to approximately 30 children who applied under the scheme after its lapsed last year.
