Senior officials inspect the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim, to explore the possibility of setting up the strong room to house the EVMs of the Ponda by-polls and for counting of votes.

An inspection at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, Navelim, was carried out in connection with the by-election to the 21 Ponda Assembly Constituency.
The inspection was conducted in the presence of Keshav Ram Chaurasia, IAS, IGP-Goa Police, Egna Cleetus, IAS, DEO, South Goa, SP South Goa, SP (Election), along with Nodal Officers.
The team reviewed the arrangements for the strong room, control rooms and counting hall to ensure that all necessary preparations are in place.
Sources informed that it was initially decided to house the EVMs in the strong room located in the South Goa Collectorate building and to conduct the counting in the complex. However, it was later decided to shift the venue to the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium.
An official informed that the election authorities have decided to utilise a small area to set up the strong room and to hold counting at the venue without disturbing the regular practice sessions inside the stadium.
