A large jungle tree fell on the road early Monday morning at Budruk Shelpe near Valpoi in Sattari taluka, causing temporary disruption to traffic.
The incident took place at around 6 am when a tree got uprooted and fell on the road, blocking the route and leading to a queue of vehicles on both sides.
Commuters heading to work and local residents faced inconvenience, with some opting for alternative routes while others waited at the spot.
Upon receiving information, personnel from the Valpoi Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the location. The operation was led by Dnyaneshwar S Sawant, as firefighters initiated immediate action. Removing the tree was challenging as it was lying across the road with branches spread on both sides. Traffic was restored smoothly within a short period.
Meanwhile, residents pointed out that changing weather conditions, strong winds, and weakened roots of old trees are contributing to such incidents. They stressed the need for regular inspection and trimming of roadside trees.
The fire brigade has also appealed to citizens to promptly report such hazards to authorities concerned, so that timely action can prevent major mishaps.
