In what seems like a recurring episode, the Anjuna Police have once again registered a case against the controversial Diaz Pool Club & Bar for violating noise pollution regulations by playing loud music well past the permissible hours.

An FIR has been filed against the club’s manager under Section 5 of the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, and Section 15 of the Environment Protection Act, 1986.

According to police, the violation occurred between 10 pm on July 6 and 6 am on July 7, with sound levels hitting 66.6 dB – far above the legal limit.

What’s more incriminating? These sound readings were picked up from the club’s own real-time sound level meter – a case of self-incrimination through technology.

This is not the first time Diaz Pool Club has landed in legal trouble.

A similar FIR was filed against its manager on December 10 last year for the exact same offence.

Despite repeated violations and mounting public complaints, the club appears to be operating on its own decibel terms.

Accused of flouting rules with impunity, Diaz Club continues to thump the law with its high-volume nightlife, leaving authorities – and residents – fuming.
