Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday said, the government will soon publicly bring complete clarity on the taxi conundrum where the local taxi operator community is strongly opposed to its draft policy permitting app-based taxi aggregators to operate in the State.
Sawant said he and his transport minister Mauvin Godinho, who was instrumental in unveiling the draft policy on app-based taxi aggregators and is strongly advocating it, are on the same page.
"The State government is committed to protect the interests of both the traditional taxi businesses as well as the tourism industry," Sawant said and advised stakeholders to refrain from spreading misinformation and confusion.
“We want both taxi operators and the tourism sector to thrive in Goa. There is no reason to panic or for any misunderstanding,” Sawant said, adding that the government will soon hold a dedicated media briefing to give complete clarity on the issue.
He said, there will be complete transparency in implementing the app-based taxi service with the singular goal of improving the services for tourists while at the same time protecting livelihoods.
