The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) on Friday successfully administered the second mock PARAKH test to over 70,000 students in grades 3, 6, and 9 across all schools in Goa.
This initiative is a crucial step in preparing students for the upcoming PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024, a national assessment of learning outcomes.
The mock test, designed by a team of experts led by SCERT focused on multiple-choice questions that assess students' conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. These application-based questions are aligned with the PARAKH framework and aim to enhance students' preparedness for future competitive exams.
"The second mock test is a significant milestone in our comprehensive strategy to equip students for success in the PARAKH assessment," said Meghana Shetgaonkar, Director, SCERT.
"By familiarising students with the test format and providing them with valuable feedback, we are building their confidence and reducing test anxiety. Our goal is to ensure that every student in Goa is well-prepared to demonstrate their learning and contribute to the state's educational excellence."
The SCERT said it is committed to providing continuous support to students and teachers through a series of initiatives, including daily practice questions, weekly practice papers, and capacity-building workshops for teachers. These efforts are aimed at strengthening students' knowledge mastery, test-taking skills, and overall academic performance.
The PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 is scheduled to be conducted on December 4, 2024. "The SCERT remains dedicated to its mission of empowering students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their academic journey and beyond," it said.
PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024, organized by NCERT under the Ministry of Education, is a large-scale educational survey aimed at assessing learning outcomes across India. This initiative is a part of PARAKH (Performance Assessment, Review, and Analysis of Knowledge for Holistic Development), which supports India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 goals of competency-based assessment.
The survey targets students in grades 3, 6, and 9 across both government and private schools. It evaluates core subjects like languages, mathematics, science, and social studies.
The goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of student learning levels at key educational stages and guide future improvements in teaching methods. The survey will involve questionnaires for students and teachers, and the results will help standardize educational assessments across the country.
Goa is preparing the students for a this test by implementing various strategies like daily test questions, weekly questions and mock tests.
