The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) has asked all the parents of secondary and higher secondary school kids to attend the online series titled “Empowering Parents with Artificial Intelligence” to help them understand and responsibly guide their children’s use of AI in education and daily life.
The Central Institute of Educational Technology (CIET), a constituent unit of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), will conduct the online sessions on November 7-8 and November 14-15, from 11 am to 12 noon, live on the official CIET-NCERT YouTube channel.
Organised by the Department of ICT & Training Division (DICT & TD), CIET-NCERT, the initiative aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which advocates the integration of emerging technologies into the teaching and learning process. The programme seeks to empower parents with essential knowledge about Artificial Intelligence (AI), its applications, ethical considerations, and potential challenges.
According to NCERT, Artificial Intelligence is reshaping education by enabling personalised learning, encouraging creativity, solving real-world problems, and preparing students for future-ready careers. However, the organisation recognises a significant awareness gap among parents regarding AI’s ethical use, data privacy, algorithmic bias, and digital well-being. The upcoming AI series aims to bridge this gap through awareness, guidance, and hands-on understanding.
The session will focus on encouraging safe, ethical, and inclusive use of AI tools, ensuring fairness and digital well-being, equipping parents with practical strategies to support their children’s responsible engagement with AI, identifying and mitigating risks related to misinformation, privacy, and digital addiction, etc.
Participants are expected to gain a working understanding of AI concepts, promote responsible AI usage at home, and identify both opportunities and challenges posed by technology in children’s learning environments. The sessions will also familiarise parents with AI-enabled educational tools and ethical frameworks for their safe application.
