PANAJI: A container truck carrying soft drink crates overturned at Verna junction this morning, disrupting traffic during peak hours.
The vehicle, loaded with beverage crates from the Verna industrial estate, was reportedly on its way to Bangalore when it lost control at the busy junction and toppled onto its side. Crates spilled across the road, with broken bottles and packaging scattered over a large stretch of the carriageway.
The accident led to a long tailback of vehicles, affecting office-goers and daily commuters, with motorists being forced to divert or maneuver past the debris.
In the chaos that followed, several passersby were seen picking up intact crates and bottles and loading them onto their vehicles.
Verna police reached the spot shortly after the incident and initiated clearing operations. No serious injuries were reported.
