Three persons have been booked on charges of stealing gold ornaments worth around Rs 14 lakh from a residence in Mormugao.
According to the complaint filed by Muskan Shaikh of Mormugao, the theft took place between 12.30 pm on May 29 and 1 pm on June 2.
Based on the complaint, police have booked Sadaf Fatima Sajjad Satvilkar of Mormugao, Shahid alias Istiyaq Shaikh of Mormugao and Anirban Biswas of Margao.
Police said the accused, acting with common intention, allegedly stole gold ornaments kept in a cupboard belonging to the complainant's sister-in-law, Simran Shaikh.
The stolen valuables included a gold necklace weighing 38.90 grams, a pair of gold earrings weighing 12 grams, a mangalsutra weighing approximately 31 grams belonging to Simran Shaikh and a gold locket weighing 8 grams belonging to the complainant Muskan Shaikh
Mormugao police have registered an offence under Section 305 read with Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Saidatta Naik under the supervision of PI Sheriff Jacques and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
